Encouraging Word of the Day:

Don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to you.
Treat your neighbor (those who you know & don't know) with love and respect as you would like to be treated.   (Ref.  Mark 12:31)
What is the Shemitah?

After the Jewish people settled into the Promised Land, they began to observe a seven-year cycle. The seventh year in the Jewish calendar is known as the Shemitah (also spelled Shemittah)—meaning “to release.” During this year, any outstanding debts were waived and forgiven. Also, the Jewish people did not farm during this year: anything that was grown on their land was free to take by the community, and people lived off the produce throughout the year.

The Shemitah year also served as a time of reflection and reevaluation—a pause from the busyness of life. It allowed people to refocus their attention on the Lord God, their Provider and Creator, while it also challenged them to put their complete trust and faith in Him and praise and thank Him for His faithfulness, love, and provision. The Shemitah year blessings still apply today, and those who are obedient to the Lord will experience a release of His blessings. The Shemitah Year is from September 24, 2014 to September 13, 2015.
